Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren
Leadership Team Meeting
March 15, 2018

Present:  Candy Hensley, Jeanette Hess, John Hoover, Reba Kline, Joe LaPrade, Amy Saum, Kenny Wheelbarger, Ex-Officio:  Bill Wood – Deacon Chair, Elaine McGann – Interim Pastor, Darlene LaPrade – Church Clerk.  Absent:  Chris Dastoli, Theresa Eckard, Donna Miller – Treasurer.

Jeanette called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

Reba opened with devotions and prayer.

The minutes from the February meeting were approved.

Calendar Roundtable:  April 1 – First Sunday offering for Ottobine Backpack program, March 24 – Church clean-up day: 8:30-until (Fidelis Class has volunteered to help), April 22 – Lynne Lent will speak as pulpit supply, April 17-23 – Elaine will be on vacation, March 31 – Easter Egg hunt (need to announce in church as a reminder to sign up), March 31 – Men’s Fellowship meeting at Thomas House, April 7 – Pancake Dinner 4-7 p.m., April 28 – Chicken BBQ, March 21 – Communion Bread making 6 p.m. (Fidelis Class has been invited to help), March 25 – Love Feast 7:00 p.m.

The Treasurer’s report was approved.

Focus Team Reports:

Finance Team:  Joe reported that the church has a $3,416.31 deficit as of February 28.  The finance team proposes that giving vs budget be reported quarterly in the bulletin.  Kenny seconded the motion and it was approved.

Facilities Team:  John reported that the team is getting estimates on some painting projects at the church.

Worship Team:  Reba reported that this is the year to hold Spiritual Renewal services.  The team will work on securing a speaker.  The Leadership Team is responsible for appointing a Homecoming committee for next year.

Pastor’s Report:  Elaine expressed thanks to Roger Simmons for the heater placed in the Pastor’s study.  Elaine reported on requests received for transfer of membership.  She also asked for specific prayers for an older member of the congregation in a caregiving situation.

Search Committee Report:  There have been no new candidates for consideration since January 1.  [Editor’s note: Candidate referral resumed in April after three slow months.]

Old Business:  Jeanette reported that Mitch Moore has agreed to continue on the Christian Ed. Team.

New Business:  Joe requested that $600.00 be used from the Cook Hospitality Fund for the Pancake Supper.  All proceeds will be given to Habitat for Humanity.  Kenny seconded the motion and it was approved.

Bill reported that the Cook Estate is being settled very soon and additional funds will be given to Beaver Creek.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
