Our annual Apple Butter Boil is set for October 3-4, starting Friday morning with peeling and coring apples at Onyx Hill Orchard and then snitting apples from 1 to 6 p.m. On Saturday at 3 a.m. fires are started and cider is poured into kettles. Around 8 a.m. apple snits are added the kettles and the stirring begins. In the afternoon the canning begins and usually wraps up around 6 p.m. Come on out for a good time of fellowship, working together – and of course, there is always food to eat. To place orders on the “wish list,” see Jane Wood. (It’s called a “wish list” because apple butter yields are variable and we don’t always know whether we’ll be able to meet all requests.) The price is $6 per pint and $10 per quart, with all proceeds going to the National Youth Conference 2018 fund.
