Leadership Team Meeting
November 21, 2013
Present: Regina Harlow, Ann Healy, Bob Hess, Jeanette Hess, Donna Miller, Roger Simmons, Bill Wood, Charles Wright. Ex-Officio: Glenn Bollinger – Pastor, Darlene LaPrade – Church Clerk. Absent: Tim Grove, Denise Shiflet.
Donna Miller called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.
Regina Harlow opened with devotions.
The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
The Treasurer’s report was distributed and approved.
Calendar Roundtable:
- Worship Team: December 15 – Children’s Christmas program @ 6:00 pm., December 24 – Christmas Eve Service @ 11:00 pm.
- Ministry Team: Advent Music Minutes held each Sunday of Advent before Sunday School, January 5 – Bread and Cup Communion.
- Outreach and Missions Team: December 21 – Salvation Army Bell ringing from 9:00-6:00 @ Dayton Farmers Market
- Men’s Fellowship: November 30 – Will get Christmas tree – Breakfast @ 7:15 am.
- Other Dates: December 1 – Hanging of the Greens @ 5:00 pm., December 27 – Wedding rehearsal, December 28 – Wedding
Focus Team, Deacons and Pastor Concerns:
Facilities Team: None
Ministry Team: None
Congregational Care: None
Outreach and Missions Team: Bob Hess reported that $500.00 will be donated to Cheyenne Cline for her mission trip.
Christian Education and Discipleship Team: None
Worship Team: Ann Healy reported that there are some sound system concerns and the team has met with Robert Alley.
Finance Team: Charles Wright reported that the Finance Team will meet December 5 to evaluate the year and begin planning for 2014. 88 commitment cards were collected totaling $88,000.00.
Pastor: Glenn reported that District Conference went well. He has been in contact with Robert Alley and will meet with him again in December. The Alley’s are planning to worship at Beaver Creek during Glenn’s sabbatical. Glenn encouraged everyone to get their end of the year reports to Tess as soon as possible, especially items for the directory. The goal is to have the directory ready by the end of January. The Open Doors Program appreciated Beaver Creek’s involvement with the meals and fellowship provided.
Old Business: The copier needed repairs twice in the last month. Replacement parts are no longer available. The purchase cost of a new copier will be $2000.00 – $4000.00 with a service contract of $500.00 – $1200.00 a year. According to the September minutes, $2000.00 was budgeted for 1 year to replace the copier. Charles Wright made a motion to amend the September 19 minutes to reflect under new business that the item regarding the new copier read $2000.00 a year budgeted for up to 3 years. Regina Harlow seconded the motion and the motion was approved.
New Business: Reports for the directory and the Spring Congregational Business Meeting need to be finalized as early as possible in January. Every team should submit a report to Tess by January 15.
The 2014 Directory may have some formatting changes made.
A request for transfer of membership was received from Don Hulvey to Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene.
The Leadership Team Meeting on December 19 will include all team members, both outgoing and incoming members. Expectations of each team will be discussed and reorganization will take place. This information will be needed for the 2014 directory.
Following a discussion about the budget figures and discrepancies, it was decided to move ahead with the approved 2014 budget that was approved by the congregation.
