Leadership Team Meeting
March 21, 2013

Present: Josh Bollinger, Tim Grove, Bob Hess, Jeanette Hess, Donna Miller, Roger Simmons, Bill Wood, Charles Wright. Ex-Officio: Glenn Bollinger – Pastor, Darlene LaPrade – Church Clerk. Absent: Regina Harlow, Denise Shiflet.

Tim Grove called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm.

Roger Simmons opened with devotions.

The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.

The Treasurer’s report was distributed and approved.

Calendar Roundtable:

  • Pastor: April 2-7 – Vacation, May 23-26 – John Kline ride, June 16-21 – Glenn will be Dean at Brethren Woods, June 26-July 3 – Annual Conference, Nov. 1-2 – District Conference
  • Deacons: March 24 – Love Feast @ 7:00pm.
  • Fellowship: April 14 – All Church Birthday Party, April 28 – Congregational Gathering, August 16-18 – Camping @ Natural Chimneys

Focus Teams, Deacons and Pastor Concerns:

Finance Team: No report. Glenn encouraged the Finance Team to begin looking at a stewardship plan.

Worship Team: No report.

Deacons: No report.

Facilities Team: Roger Simmons reported that the floor in the Pathfinder class will be replaced by Kenny Wheelbarger.

Pastor: Glenn encouraged members to sign-up for the Pictorial Directory. He reported that he has received a verbal request from Terry and Lisa Houff to move their membership to Bridgewater Church of the Brethren. Glenn will be chaperoning the Youth Roundtable this weekend at Bridgewater College. Glenn expressed his concerns about the youth program and the lack of parental participation. A suggestion was made to pair up with the Montezuma Church of the Brethren for youth activities.

Christian Education and Discipleship Team: No report.

Outreach and Missions Team: No report.

Fellowship Team: No report.

Congregational Care Team: No report.

Tim Grove reported that Steele and Alice Dunn are looking to raise funds to secure health care insurance. The cost would be $400.00 monthly or $4622.00 yearly. Tim suggested that Beaver Creek pay for their health care. After an extensive discussion, Bob Hess made a motion to support Steele and Alice by giving them $2400.00 to be used for an insurance premium policy while they are in the Ukraine. The money will come from the General Fund. Roger Simmons seconded the motion and the motion was approved.

Old Business: Bill Wood reported that the Ministry Team is making preparations for Glenn’s 2014 Sabbatical (see attached report). The report was verbally approved. It was noted that the church would need to include roughly $3000.00 in the 2014 budget for a substitute pastor.

New Business: The Leadership Team Questionnaire will be moved to Old Business for discussion at the April meeting.

The next meeting will be held on April 18th at 7:00 pm. Denise Shiflet will have devotions.
