Leadership Team Meeting
February 19, 2017
Present: Brad Eckard, Bill Eckard, Joe LaPrade, Darlene LaPrade, Diane Miller, Ann Healy, Reba Kline, Theresa Eckard, Jeanette Hess. Ex-officio: Glenn Bollinger – Pastor, Dana Suter – Church Clerk. Absent: Deanne Dastoli, Donna Miller – Treasurer.
Brad Eckard called the meeting to order at 12:48 pm.
Brad led the group in devotions and Glenn had a prayer.
The minutes from last month’s meeting and the Treasurer’s report from last month’s meeting were approved.
Calendar Update: First Sunday offering in March – Bridgewater/Stokesville Area Food Pantry, Mar. 5 – Ordination Service for LaDawn Knicely, Mar. 26 – All-Church Birthday Party, Apr. 16 – Easter Sunrise Service
Focus Team Reports:
Finance: Joe reported that the information for the 2016 financial review has been given to Bill Wood. The Finance Team plans to ask Linda Rhodes to help Bill with the review. The Finance Team is planning to meet with Donna Miller to ask questions about various reports.
Worship: Reba Kline reported that the Worship Team has asked the Outreach Class to be responsible for the Easter Sunrise Service and they are waiting to hear back from the class.
Christian Education & Discipleship: Darlene reported that they were having trouble finding a Brethren Woods Camp Representative and asked a few questions about the camp representative’s duties.
Facilities: Bill reported that the electrical receptacles and lights at the church /parsonage have been replaced. Tile has been placed at the front door of the church to keep the door from dragging on the carpet. The Facilities Team has gotten a bid from Sign Pro to replace the directional signs to the church. Any ideas on colors or designs of these signs should be given to Roger Simmons. The water softener will be installed next week. A refrigerator at the parsonage needs to be replaced. The refrigerator is the one currently in the utility room—the refrigerator in the kitchen belongs to Glenn and Debbie.
Pastor’s Report: Glenn reported that he had received a request for transfer of membership from Jim and Carole Grove to the Parnassus United Methodist Church. The 2017 church directory is available on the table in the vestibule. Glenn will bring a list of the current e-mail prayer chain to next month’s meeting to see if there are names that need to be deleted or added to this list. Glenn stressed the importance of getting the minutes from Focus Team meetings and the LT meeting to Tess as soon as possible especially during this transition period as she will be the main contact person. Glenn’s last Sunday will be May 21 and he will be taking vacation through the end of May. Glenn will be in North Carolina March 15 – March 17 as he is on the planning committee for Inspiration 2017 which is the older adult national conference.
New Business: Homecoming is scheduled for Sept. 10 and Brad asked LT members for possible names to serve on the Homecoming Committee as well as names for a possible speaker. Denise Shiflet and Ann Healy have agreed to serve on the Homecoming Committee and Brad will contact others on the list.
Brad reported that the Shenandoah District has assigned John Glick to be the representative for Beaver Creek in the pastoral search. The LT will meet with John Glick in March and he will inform the LT on the process and answer any question that member may have about the search process.
Becca Shiflet is going to work on all the requirements needed to receive the Silver Medal Award in Girl Scouts. She would like to give the church nursery a facelift for her major project. She will oversee the entire project and raise the money herself as part of the requirements for this award.
Ann reported that recently a group from Beaver Creek had formed as a faith based caregiver support group. There are around 25 people interested in participating within our church and maybe later they ill branch out into the surrounding community. Ann made a motion asking the LT to give their support to this group. Jeanette seconded the motion and the motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:41 pm.
The next Leadership Team meeting is scheduled for March 19 at 1:00 pm.
