Leadership Team Meeting
November 19, 2015
Present: Evy Kaye Sandin, Bill Wood, Jane Cyzick, Candy Hulvey, Sean Dunn, Jeanette Hess, Theresa Eckard, Bill Eckard, Charles Wright. Ex-officio: Glenn Bollinger – Pastor, Donna Miller – Treasurer, Dana Suter – Church Clerk. Absent: Deborah Hoover.
Evy Kaye called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm. Candy led the group in devotions and a prayer. The minutes from last month’s meeting and the Treasurer’s report were approved. The master calendar was updated.
Christian Education and Discipleship: No report.
Congregational Connection: No report.
Facilities: Bill Eckard reported that the Facilities Team has talked with a contractor about the drainage problem in the church basement. They hope to have a price by next month’s meeting. The price for the gutter guards will be approximately $1000. Candy made a motion to use the $1000 donated for thispurpose and Charles seconded the motion. The motion was passed.
Fellowship: No report.
Finance: Charles reported that the Finance Team had met with Dan Martin, CPA and early next year they will present a report of the Financial Review to the Leadership Team. The Finance Team continues to work on the duties/responsibilities of their team for the instruction notebook. The Leadership Team had asked the Finance Team to look at the budget vs. the giving. The Finance Team asked if the Treasurer and the Financial Secretary would provide the information for 2014-2015 and they would put it in a graph form and continue this into 2016 for each quarter. Charles shared the three-year record of pledge card commitments:
Outreach: Jeanette reported that the Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes are due this coming Sunday, November 22. Money for the Heifer Project will continue to be collected through December. The First Sunday Offering in December will go to the Salvation Army. There is a sign- up sheet in the vestibule for bell ringing at the Dayton Farmer’s Market on December 19.
Ministry: No report.
Worship: Candy reported that the Worship Team is looking for an individual/group to lead the Christmas Eve Service. They are working on their list of responsibilities/duties for the Worship Team notebook. The TA Singers will be performing at Beaver Creek on May 15 at 7:00 pm. The Worship Team is working on getting Beaver Creek COB information placed in The Shenandoah Journal.
Deacon’s Report: Donna reported that the deacon’s are preparing for a Bread and Cup Communion on January 3. The deacon’s had a reorganization meeting and Bill Miller is the Chairman and Joe LaPrade is the Vice Chairman.
Pastor’s Report: Glenn shared that he has been asked to be the Director of Pastoral Placement temporarily through May. Glenn reminded the group that the holidays can be a difficult time for many people and to be in prayer for those who are struggling.
Unfinished Business: The Leadership Team will be visiting Sunday School classes on December 6 to gather information on the spiritual needs of the church. The Worship Team will be responsible for securing a person to get monthly church greeters. Tess will take care of renewing or any new subscribers to The Messenger through the church office.
New Business: The duties of the Congregational Connection Focus Team were assigned to other focus teams. The Worship Team will take care of the Sound and Video volunteers. The Outreach and Missions Focus Team will be responsible for the church newsletter and the church website. Evy Kaye presented a letter from the district office for the 2016 licensing renewals for Regina Harlow and LaDawn Plaugher. Jeanette made a motion to approve the renewals and Candy seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Evy Kaye reported that Beaver Creek has ownership in the Spring Creek Town Hall. After some discussion, Jeanette made a motion to have the church trustees meet with Phil Stone, Jr. to seek out options on this property. Bill Eckard seconded the motion and the motion passed.
Evy Kaye led the group in a prayer.
The next Leadership Team meeting is December 17, 2015 at 7:00 pm.
